August 29th, 2014

Today is August 29th, 2014.
Where I live -- close to the mountains in Wyoming, there already has been snow in the higher elevations above us.

August 24th, 2014 - the Bighorn Mountains here have snow on the higher mountains.

Here is a closer view of the higher elevations above the treeline.

I have been in the mountains the last several weekends, hiking, taking photos, gathering wild herbs and studying wild mushrooms.

This has been the coolest August I ever remember in Wyoming.

It won't be long before the leaves begin to change.

Went to Park Reservoir, which is above Bighorn, Wyoming.

The ponds there were covered with lilypads.

Here the view of higher mountains at Park Reservoir reveals the recent snowfall they received in August.

This has been the most humid Summer I've ever seen in Wyoming.

The Bighorn Mountains about 10 minutes from where I live.

So with anticipation of the coming Autumn changes, one must begin to prepare for the inevitable Winter season that will soon be upon us.  Pricing of snow tires, making one's vehicle Winter-ready, is a high priority.

Soon many of the roads in the mountains that are now open to the public will close for the Winter.

A Mischevious Wind

Tonight a mischiveous wind is sending autumn leaves through my second floor window, delighting my cat as he catches and tosses them around the room.  There are conifer trees outside my window -- not deciduous -- and my window is only cracked open 2 inches...must be the Halloween Spirit in the air?
